The Age of Wonders series celebrates its 25th anniversary

Triumph Studios celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 4X strategy series Age of Wonders. A quarter of a century ago, the first installment of the franchise was released, conceived by a small group of students as a strategy role-playing game inspired by epic fantasy books. The project turned out to be a real challenge for novice developers: the creation of the game took more than six years and required a complete rework after completing their studies and founding the studio. With the of Epic Games and the Gathering of Developers, the team was able to bring the game from the student bedroom level to the global market.

Over the course of 25 years, Age of Wonders has undergone many changes, adapting to new technologies, but has always remained true to its original concept. With each new installment, the franchise has found a balance between innovation and the spirit of the first games, and from the player community and the addition of new talent to the team played a significant role in this. The latest game in the series, Age of Wonders 4, released in 2023 with the of Paradox Interactive, became the most successful in the history of the franchise, bringing to life a long-standing idea – giving players the opportunity to rule a fantasy kingdom.

Triumph Studios co-founders Lennart Sas and Arno van Wingerden thanked all developers, partners, and players for their contributions to the Age of Wonders story. “Without your ion and dedication, this story would not have been possible,” they said. Triumph Studios plans to continue ing the series in the future to preserve its legacy and give fans the opportunity to experience even more unforgettable adventures.
